The Auseinet approach:
Auseinet supports the following approaches to mental health:
Promoting and supporting activities that maximise mental health and wellbeing for people who are currently well and for those experiencing mental illness(for example: resilience building, problem solving and life skills initiatives in schools, mentoring schemes in workplaces, peer support programs, community building activities in recreation, arts and sport.)
Preventing the development of mental disorders (for example: parenting programs, anti-bullying programs in schools and workplaces, support for children of parents with a mental illness, counselling and support for those bereaved by suicide.)
Early intervention involving the early identification of symptoms to prevent the development of a disorder (for example:early identification of anxiety and behavioural problems in children); and early treatment to reduce the impact of a disorder (for example: treatment for young people with a first episode psychosis.)
